Create Download Gates

Download Gates are an amazing way to make your music more viral and grow your fan base.

They let you share downloads of your music in return for fan email addresses, likes, reposts, comments and followers on SoundCloud, Spotify, Youtube, Instagram, Facebook and other sites.

Here's how easily to create one:

1. On your Hypeddit Dashboard, click on "Share Music" in the top navigation. Then, click on the green "Select" button next to the "Download Gates" option.
   
   
   
   
2. Start setting up your Download Gate by entering the URL of your track on SoundCloud, YouTube, Spotify or MixCloud.
   
   Then, click "Next"
   
   
   
   
3. Select the genre of your track. You can search for it in the search box or browse through the list below.
   
   Hypeddit uses the genre information internally to organize music for our Top 100 Charts and New Releases by genre. Just pick the genre that's closest to your musical style. The genre setting will NOT impact the performance of your song.
   
   Then, click "Next"
   
   
   
   
4. Upload the audio file you want to share with Fans as a free download. This could be the same audio file that you have on SoundCloud, YouTube, Spotify or MixCloud, but it can also be a different file.
   
   This is useful to give fans the exclusivity of the download that you offer them as a reward for their email addresses, likes, reposts, comments and follows.
   
   
   
   
5. Enter your "Artist Name" and track "Title" - or check that the information that was automatically populated for you is correct.
   
   Then, click "Next".
   
   
   
   
6. Customize the design of your Download Gate to best match your artist branding.
   
   You can upload your cover art image (minimum of 500 x 500 pixels and maximum of 2,000 x 2,000 pixels) or use a video from YouTube, Vimeo or Wistia as cover art.
   
   You can also set the color theme of your page. Select the light or dark presets - or use custom colors.
   
   You can also remove the Hypeddit logo and add social media icons/links to this page.
   
   When you completed your design settings, click "Next".
   
   
   
   
7. Set up the Gate Steps. These are the steps you're asking fans to complete in order to unlock your download.
   
   To add Gate Steps to your Download Gate (e.g., Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud, and more), simply click on the "+" icon next to it from the list of Gate Steps. Then enable any actions that you want to include in your Gate Step by putting a check mark beside it (e.g., for Spotify, select from 'follow', 'save', 'pre-save', and more). 
   
   Some Gate Steps include a yellow info icon. In such case, hover your mouse over the info icon to see additional information about how that particular Gate Step works.
   
   
   
   If you add multiple Gate Steps, you can control if you want to let fans pick which Gate step they want to complete in order to unlock your gate or if you want them to complete all steps.  
   
   You can control this by connecting Gate Steps with an "And" or "Or" rule (see pic below).
   
   Here's what these rules mean:
   
   "And" - fans needs to unlock both steps in order to proceed.
   "Or" - fans can unlock either step to proceed.
   
   
   
   
8. Then, setup your Custom Link URL or use the default Hypeddit URL. To learn more about Custom Link URLs, click HERE
   
   
   
   
9. You can then set how your Download Gate will be available to fans. By default, your Download Gate will be instantly public and offer your fans to download your song at any time.
   
   However, you can add the following optional marketing features to your Download Gate to create urgency or scarcity around your download:
   
   Limited time - Use this option if you want fans to be able to unlock your downloads only for a limited time. Fans visiting your Gate after the date and time you set will see a message that your Gate expired.
   
   Limited quantity - Use this option if you want to give away only a limited number of downloads. Fans visiting your Gate after all downloads have been claimed will see a message that your Gate has no more downloads left.
   
   Scheduled - Use this option if you want fans to be able to unlock your downloads only after a date and time you set. Fans visiting your Gate before your downloads become publicly available will see a countdown timer letting them know when the wait is over.
   
   
   
   
10. If you have included the "Email Capture" Gate Step, you can activate Email Promotion to automatically send an email promoting one of your other Download Gates to fans who just unlock this Download Gate.
    
    
    
    
11. You can add your Tracking Pixels for various ad platforms to your Download Gate. Hypeddit lets you manually enter your Tracking Pixels or save them to your account (Learn More) for easy access on future Download Gates. 
    
    
    
    
12. On the Confirmation step, you can check the information you just entered and add "Custom Notes" if needed so you can easily identify your Download Gate among others on your Hypeddit Dashboard. Once done, click on "Create".
    
    
    
    

And that's it!
