Connect Hypeddit to your email marketing tool (e.g., Mailchimp) so that you can automatically synchronize all fan email addresses captured by your Hypeddit Gates, Smart Links and Pre-Saves with your email list.
That way you don't have to manually export and import contacts. Once you connect Hypeddit with your email marketing tool, your email list will be updated automatically. That means you can send emails to your list anytime, knowing that all your new fans get your messages.
Hypeddit supports three automation apps that let you connect Hypeddit to your email marketing tool: IFTTT, Zapier and Integromat.
In this article, we'll show you how to connect Hypeddit to your email marketing tool (e.g., Mailchimp) using IFTTT.
IFTTT stands for "If This Then That". It's a free service that lets you connect supported apps so that they can "talk to each other".
What you need to get started:
- Hypeddit account
- IFTTT account
- Email marketing app (e.g., Mailchimp)
How to set it up:
- Go to your IFTTT dashboard and click on "Create" (see picture below)
- Click on "If This (Add)" (see picture below)
- On the "Choose a service" page, search for "webhooks" and then click on the Webhook service (see picture below)
- Inside the Webhooks service, click on "Receive a web request", then click "Connect" to connect your IFTTT with Webhooks. Then, enter an event name such as "email_captured" (see picture below). Please use underscores between words. Then click on "Create trigger"
- Now that you defined your trigger event, you need to set up your action event next. To do so, click on "Then That (Add)" (see picture below).
- In this article, we are going to connect to Mailchimp. However, you can use the same steps for any other email marketing application supported by IFTTT. Just search for the name of your email marketing app on the "Choose a service" page (see picture below).
To connect Mailchimp, just search for "mailchimp". Then click on the MailChimp service. - Inside the MailChimp service, click on "Add a new subscriber" then click "Connect" and login to your MailChimp account. After that, using the drop down menu on the "Which list?" field, select the list on your MailChimp account to which you want to automatically add fan email addresses captured with Hypeddit. Next, delete the contents of the "What email address?", "First Name" and "Last Name" fields (see picture below). We're going to replace them in the next step...
- Under "What email address?", click on "Add Ingredient" then select "Value1" (see picture below). Repeat this step for the field "First Name" and select "Value2". Finally, add "Value3" for "Last Name". Then click on "Create Action".
- Click "Continue", then "Finish". Congrats! You're almost there! As the final step, we just need to generate the webhook URL to which Hypeddit will send emails captured.
- To do this, click on the Webhooks icon (see picture below).
- Then click on "Documentation" (see picture below).
- It will open a new browser tab. In the text box labeled "Make a POST or GET web request to", find the {event} placeholder (see picture below). Now, replace this placeholder with the name of your applet from step 4 above. In this example, the name of the applet is email_captured
- After you updated the {event} placeholder with your actual applet name, copy the full URL. Then go to your Hypeddit Account Settings and paste the URL in the Webhooks text box of your Automation settings (see picture below).
And done! You did it!
For the fastest way to test if the IFTTT applet is working correctly, please download one of your Download Gates with an email capture gate step.
Once you completed all the gate steps in your Download Gate, the email address you entered will automatically be sent to your contact list in Mailchimp.
Important: IFTTT is a free tool and may not process all webhooks instantly. That means it can take a few minutes and sometimes hours for your email address to show up in your email marketing tool (e.g., Mailchimp).
Congrats on completing this setup! And if you still need help, please reach out to our support team. Just go to hypeddit.com and click on the Support/Contact options at the top of the page or in the footer of the page to send us a message.
